We opened Metro in 1996 on a quiet corner in Dublin’s South William Street in a mid-18th century building. Having worked in hospitality in New York, our dream was to create a café with the atmosphere of a Dublin pub in a bistro environment. We noticed when visiting other European cities we would look for cafés that defined the city we were in with “a sense of place.” You know you’re in Dublin when you look out our windows at the fine architecture or the hustle and bustle of our city or the ever interesting weather.

Over its long history, our building has seen some changes from its original purpose as a coach building. Metro Café has also changed, from a busy corner coffee shop into a well-established bistro serving breakfast, lunch and dinner, well known for its all-day brunch menu and offering a range of great beers and wine in a relaxed bistro style ambiance.
